We envision NC SAVE$ ENERGY to be an independent energy efficiency organization, one that is completely separate from the utilities.

NC SAVE$ ENERGY will contract with existing and new providers of energy efficiency who meet the following criteria:

1. Reduce the need and usage of electricity or natural gas.

2. Provide economic benefits to low and moderate income households.

3. Increase comfort levels and protection against weather extremes for vulnerable populations.

4. Reduce utility bills.

5. Provide training of employees in weatherization projects.

6. Monitor and verify energy savings and program effectiveness.

7. Represent geographical distribution.

8. Implement innovative financial programs to provide low-interest or no-interest loans  for weatherization projects.
